1000cc injectors

so I bought a set of 1000cc injectors.. yay! anyways, I'm wondering if they might be a bit big for my power goals( the more power the better, but I don't want to grenade my engine) I'm shooting for mid 500 rwhp. still deciding the turbo I'm gunna use.
I have also recently purchased an MAFT-Pro with all the bells and whistles. I'm using this as my piggy back setup. Will I be able to tone down the injector pulses with the MAFT-Pro or will it "automatically" do it for me.

As I understand it...

Those injector may have some trouble with resolution at idle. They have a finite response time, and therefore a miniumum non-zero flow rate, which is going to be (at the very least) horribly rich at idle.

They're WAY more than you need for your power goals. They may be making your tuning more difficult.

I could see maybe going to 720cc injectors.

For your stated goals, I think the 550s and the MAF-T Pro should be adequate. The 720s will give you plenty of margin, and be easier to tune.

this might be a really dum question but will adding a lexus afm and 550s take down my fuel economy if i drive the car the same way ?

yes.... you are adding more air to your cars mixture, and thus to keep running correctly you are adding more fuel. add that together and it creates less mpg. Aren't turbo's great! Buy my set of brand new RC 1000cc injectors!

That's what I was afraid of. I figured if I had problems it would be at idle. so yea anyone wanna trade a set of injectors??

You are a godsend I have some RC 550's and want some 1000's trade plus $50 from me sound fair?

If it's tuned correctly NO it won't use more fuel.....

Where do you guys pull this crap from?

It takes xx throttle percentage to maintain xx speed/power output the motor doesn't care if it has XX injectors or MAF sensor if the mixture is correct it will get the same economy right up until the point where the motor requires more fuel/air to make power then of course economy suffers.

At what point will fuel economy be affected?? I have seen the vids on youtube of the big MK4 boys using 1600cc injectors they idel at about 11:1 because they can't get the dutycycle any lower even crusing they never seem to get above about 13:1 (unless off the throttle).

I know that, I was just trying to pick your brains. At what point do larger injectors affect the day to day fuel consumption when driven as a DD. Probably a very broad question and a pointless one at that.

DBnO: I think by the time you actually Need/Use 1000cc's you'd be looking at staged Injectors for drivability, sorry I can't be more specific but I don't use petrol/gas here so haven't got any real world data.

I'm still trying to figure out how you managed to spend all that money on injectors without attempting to do any research. It's not like the info is hard to find.

Those must be crank numbers. I'd want bigger than 550s to run mid 500rwhp levels. Admittedly, 1000s are way overboard.

I'm sure I've read about members with 660cc injectors that managed to tune a decent idle. I'm not so sure I've ever seen 720cc or higher do the same thing.

Fuel usage is dependant on the amount of POWER that your car is making, or rather, power made is dependant on using fuel.

If you are driving in closed loop mode, the amount of power made to keep your car at a constant speed is the same, and since it's the same engine, the amount of fuel consumed will be the same.

You'll use more fuel when you get into the boost and taking in more air than the stock AFM/TCCS would allow. With the stock setup, this would cause FCO, but with the Lexus/550s, you just burn more fuel, and thus get worse fuel economy.

The other part would be, as I suggested, if you used fuel injectors that simply cannot provide a small enough amount of fuel for idle, at which point your idle mixture would become more rich, and burn more fuel at idle

Other than that, your fuel economy is largely dependant on your right foot.
