Hi guys,
Don't have any experience with 100 Octane fuel in my car. I was lucky enough to score half a tank of 100 Octane for free, and I took my car to run around 11:00 pm tonight. Its very nice and cool outside.
I was able to feel the difference in performance of my car almost immediately on the freeway as it seemed to boost much and I felt a lot more power.
Ofcourse It put a fat smile on my face.

My question is : Does 100 Octane hurt anything internally? Just curios, that's all .The reason I ask is because I know that for eer action, there is a opposite reaction. Ofcourse my car ran like a bat out of hell, but what am I sacrificing???
Thanks.

what'd they spike the 100 with to make it run faster?

last I checked you don't gain any more power off the fuel alone, just the ability to make more power.

100% correct Wingy!

I wish this idiotic urban myth would DIE!

You actually lose power the higher the octane.....

It allows you to increase Timing/Compression or Boost and from these you get a power increase NOT from the fuel.

oh looks like i learn somthing new every day..... thats weird cause my friends eclispe turbo had race gas and he was floring it at about 20 and hed burn out a bunch on dry ground and he did that when he didnt have race gas and it didnt start burning rubber at a roll of 20mph.

Only time race fuel will make that sort of difference is if the ECU is pulling timing due to knock on crap fuel.

Dump some good gas in the timing comes back to where it should be and the car makes more power!

Its funny, because everytime I try to tell any of my less educated (ricers) friends that they're losing horses by running 100 octane on their N/A Honduurr, they act like I'm crazy. They don't realize that they're pre-conditioned to see a change because they changed something, of course they're going to think they got more power.

How much boost are you running, Moe? You could have noticed a difference because the ECU was pulling timing at higher boost with the mods you have so the 100octance let you have it back!

Well, I never said it made more power just by dumping 100 Octane fuel in my car.I am not that stupid..jeeezzz lol

I should have clarified that my limited mods seemed to respond a lot better with the 100 Octane that's all.

What I meant to say was it seemed to rev closer / higher than normal and I did not hit my normal boost cut at around 6500 ( yes thats low) as I was hitting before,
(thats with 91 OCtane )aka crap fuel atm , especially in cooler night temperature.

I guess that's what explains things after reading some of your comments in between those "You are an idiot" comments.
lol

Joe I ran 1.125 bar last night since that's what I had it set on recently.

All these posts and no one answered my question??? Does 100 OCtane harm anything? Just curious.

Thanks guys.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who got the impression that you went to the strip! ;)

When you said, "immediately after getting onto the freeway" comment, I got the impression that you were traveling to go to the track! :naughty:
Sorry. I guess I was getting into your thread a bit too much. :biglaugh:
