you're not remotely close to what our stock diffs can take lol. the 8.8 irs setup is for 1000+whp cars that want to launch off a transbrake. there's some decent aftermarket lsd available for our stock diffs. mine has new clutch packs, shimmed, the larger oem spring, and the extra spring. it...
you better have put the upgraded thrust washer in there! i rebuilt mine with the upgraded retainer, washer, and shift forks. its held up great handle lots of launches at the track. the main thing with doing the trans is making sure everything is seated enough when pressing things together. then...
wow thats quite a bit laggier now thats like 500rpm difference from where i'm seeing full boost in 3rd. you have cams though and the ability to rev higher so i could see the combo working out great. if you rev to 7500rpm you'll actually have a larger power band than full boost at 4000 and...
thats weird was your boost pressure staying consistent throughout the pull? also a/r?
i really doubt that housing is a restriction until at least mid 20's because i had excellent boost control with the 15psi wastegate and running 22psi. boost varying a couple psi through out the whole pull. i'm...
how much boost were you running and what were the problems?
the 563 run was on 20-22psi and would trap 123-124 never dynod on the higher boost but went 130-131mph so im sure it was in the 600's. i think with it holding 30psi it should trap 135+
im currently running 1 bar springs so like 15psi...
hmm curious to see how your dyno graph looks. i'm still on the stock ecu so only revving to 6500 with a very liner power band. the .83 housing has worked well but when i was trying to run 30psi it was hitting that then dropping to 26psi. not sure if its the wastegate getting blown open or the...
glad i could help in the decision! mine actually came with the .88 open and i swapped it for the divided .83 like you got. it made the turbo sooooooooo much better to drive. i just hope its not a restiction when i push it to 700whp. i ran it up to 30psi but boost was dropping to around 26psi...
looking good!!! i think you're going to love that turbo!
is there a reason you aren't running the cps? i'm considering going to an ecu master emu but still not positive since my setup seems to be working so well. id like a higher rev limit, no maf housing as a restriction on the intake, and...
daaaaam you're not wasting any time!!! nice work and thanks for posting the write up!
sorta curious are v160's that much cheaper/available there? i was under the impression all the oem parts for them are dried up along with new replacement trans. similar to whats happened to the r154.
so got some miles on the diff and its working great! doesn't whine like it use to or sound like bolts in a blender like my broken one. the 3.73 seems to accelerate slightly slower than the 3.91 but you go a little faster in each gear so its hard to tell for sure. helped traction in 2nd some also...
i took the .119 from the ring gear side and put it on the pinion side. so i have the .121 there now which tightened up the backlash and the .119 removed the same i added so preload stayed the same.
its a little tedious but i don't mind. also like to know its being done right.
ended up going to a local off road shop that does lots of lockers and gears. they had some shims they gave me. rockys off road ftw. i got a .050, .010, and .015. tried .060 first and it put it on the opposite side...
finally got to messing with this. ended up getting a .0717" shim to play it safe and put it together. the dam pattern isn't really looking as good as id like it still. you can see the prussian blue isn't as thick at the top but i'm still not happy with it. the .0669" is the thinnest looking like...
yeah this diff i took apart to just do the clutch pack/shim/spring. put it all back how it was and this is the pattern i got. i do recall this diff whining. i'm curious what will happen if i adjust the pinion if it will run quieter and get a good pattern so decided to tear into it. got the...
yeah its the diff that was originally in my car. it's never seen much abuse though. i found this thread on sf where his pattern looked close to mine and he got a really nice pattern after moving the pinion away from the ring gear. if i recall this diff wined some and that was part of the reason...
So I'm in the middle of swapping over to 3.73 from 3.91 because I broke the ring gear on my 3.91 and had a spare 3.73. Also wanted the extra mph in 4th and just see how I like it since I've had 3.91 ever since I did my swap. I tore it down to put in a newer set of clutch packs I had and to add...
unless you want to shift into 5th under 130mph don't run the 4.30's. if you're revving over 7000rpm you'll get more mph but still most people like to make their pass ending in 4th. one more shift means more time wasted.
how much hp are you running and what you're revving to is a factor in...
