I had a very similar problem with my rear shocks. ended up replacing all 4 with konis and energy suspension bumpstops.
Those red foam things are the bumpstops to prevent your shocks from bottoming out over big bumps etc. mangled bumpstop = probably blown shock.

Well those gases are directed to the hot side of your turbo, where they push the turbine. The hot side fan spins another connected piece on the intake side, which sucks in and pushes more air into the combustion chamber.
