Thanks for the quick reply. I'm in Rincon, 10 minutes from Savannah. Yep, rod knock does suck, I'm not sure if I still want to keep the car if I have to deal with the block. The 7m blocks are alluminum? And if so, is bearing problems common?

My 88 non turbo supra overheated and now it taps loudly. A mechanic told me it's probably the main bearings. I sure hope he's wrong. I have to pull the block out to replace the main bearings, right? I have the head pulled off and I'm hoping I can just get off easy back replacing possible bad...
