well, i can't modify my engine/transmission or i think i'll have import issues. so i guess i'm going to do the exterior and interior fun first...i've got some 17x9.5s -38 offset all around and about to start demolishing the fenders. waiting on the tires, but here's a test mount of one of the...
well, this one with the issue here is actually an "operational" parts car i got for 400 dollars with a multitude of problems, but nothing beyond repair. i live in europe and i'd like to keep them both alive and well to bring back to the states when i leave, but i realistically expect to walk...
welp, ended up getting it towed since i gave up trying to troubleshoot. took it to a local shop...no word for a week, told him it was low priority anyway. called him back yesterday and he said he wasnt sure what the problem was since it was getting proper air, fuel, and spark. so...i have...
partially...i assessed it was more work than i had time for when i took half of the screws out, so i put it back together. never actually opened the unit up... it was mostly out of curiousity anyway so i abandoned the effort. half the reason i got the car was to teach myself how they work. i did...
hello gentlemen, so the other day i was driving my stock 1988 7mge right, i accelerated to 50-60 mph and just shifted into third when i pressed the clutch to coast the car suddenly didn't want to maintain idle rpm and died. all the expected lights came on and i noticed the car had died...let out...
oh yeah, those are connected too
edit: damn UK! no such thing as a evening project. nobody carries relay switches!?!? 2x automotive store...electrical supply store...home hardware store... if it werent for ebay i'd be stranded. i miss the states.
alright cool thanks, i didnt really know where to start searching for answers but it looks like i have a few things to try now. i thought roughing up the starter was a joke directed at electrically incompetent people (myself included there...but instructions are easy to follow) but now i see...
i searched plenty of threads before posting...none of them seem to have the same symptoms i do
it's 1988, rhd, not certain if its ukd or jdm
-everything has power
-one click when key turned on, then a 1-second pause, then three clicks within the next second <--this is what makes my issue...
yep it was a running and driveable car but had a lot of vapor in the exhaust even after 10 minutes of running (previous owner had it off the road for a few years, he suspected the hg was blown also). i just double checked...i've got 14 head bolts pulled thank god
naw i have those both pulled, exhaust out completely, intake is removed from head but i left the hoses attached and its just chilling in the engine bay, but nonetheless completely seperated from the head
thank you for replies
i'm not sure there's any hose that could hold the way this thing is holding on... so i just went back out there and gave it another good look around, i can't find any feasable place it could be attached around the perimeter of the head and block without some mirror to see some obstructed areas...
okay so i've more or less followed several resources (there's plenty of threads in here) along with the tsrm and i have my engine crane all bolted to the head. i pried it loose but the head doesn't seem to actually be free from the block, even though it's free enough to "rock" left and right...
yeah i must have spent an hour looking for diagrams and outside with a flashlight trying to find it...
basically, i got a good way into a head gasket change and just now remembered about the fuel pressure, oops. the car was running recently, how much fuel it it going to spray if i just go at...
okay, so i picked up this '88 7mge supra at an auction for cheap as hell, my first one actually...figured the best way to learn the car was to buy a project. so i'm aware that you can relieve fuel pressure by pulling the fuse to the fuel pump and running the car until it stalls... but say the...
