Hey everybody, My names Nick. I'm new to the supra world. I have a 1988 mkIII 7mgte. Did a stock rebuild about four months ago. Recently i heard a clapping sound coming from the front of the engine. I can only hear it when im near the intercooler under the car by the belts after the car is warmed up. The sound was getting loud enough for me to hear it from inside the car. I think its the water pump bearing beginning to go out. I have read that when the seal that protects the water pump impeller shaft bearig coolant begins to leak through the weep holes the bearing gets damaged. The gasket is new and is in good condition it looks like its coming from a bolt or a nut hole. I didnt replace the water pump during the build because it was in spec and good condition. But i think the summer heat has taken its toll. Any ideas? I know for a fact that the sound is not rod knock...its coming from the belt area. please help.
